If you’re digging the new Wilco album Sky Blue Sky as much as Hypeful is, you need to check out the first b-side to surface from it - “One True Vine”. It’s short, sweet, and guaranteed to play nicely with the rest of your Tweedy-penned catalogue.
A Doc Martens UK advertising campaign is using images of (unfortunately) deceased rockers Kurt Cobain, Sid Vicious, Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer to sell boots. According to Ultimate Guitar, a spokesman for the ad campaign has said:
“We wanted to communicate that Dr. Martens boots are ‘made to last,’ and we discovered that these idolized musicians wore them. Showing them still wearing their Docs in heaven dramatized the boots’ durability perfectly. And, as images, they feel very iconic.”
Hmph. Perhaps the Doc M folks should have learned from the much despised 1987 Nike “Revolution” commercial - footwear and iconic rock do not belong together.

Today is the one week anniversary of Hypeful and I would be remiss if I didn’t send out some very big THANKS! First of all, I owe thanks to Heath and Jay for helping me piece this site together before its launch. Without their tech wizardry, I would probably be stuck “blogging” with crayons. The Austin City Limits Festival has become one of my favorite events of the year and this year’s lineup is incredible. However, with the dancecard packed so full of awesome musicians on 8 stages across 3 days, choosing who to see when can be a demanding task.
It is in this spirit that Hypeful is starting a new feature to help readers learn more about this year’s ACL Fest artists and be better prepared to have an awesome experience in Austin.
