First Image From Where the Wild Things Are

First Image from

MTV Movies Blog has posted the first image (in high-res!) from Spike Jonze’s upcoming adaptation of the classic children’s novel “Where the Wild Things Are”. Jonze cowrote the screenplay with Dave Eggers(!) and the cast looks solid, which has us suspecting this isn’t going to be anything like the recent attempts at bringing Seuss to the silver screen. Mark your calendars - the film is being released on October 3, 2008.

New Jens Lekman - “Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo”

Jens Lekman

While we wait for his new album to drop in September, Jens Lekman has released a new summer single to appease our appetite for fresh Swedish pop. “Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo” sounds every bit as sock-hoppy as the title suggests. Ever wondered what it would be like to leave city life and start a new country side community with your friends, playing bingo and watching rabbits copulate? Jens does and invites you to contemlate this scenario along with him while the saxophones play.

Hypeful About Gay Musicians

gay rockstars
Because June is designated as Gay Pride Month, Hypeful received the suggestion to commemorate the occasion by showcasing some tunes from our favorite gay musicians. Always up for doing a themed post, Hypeful accepted the challenge and passes the songs on to you. Yes - bisexual David Bowie is married to a woman, Mika is mum about his sexuality, and there’s still some contentions about who makes Morrissey so bloody miserable. However, we’ve gone ahead and included them in our musical parade.

While you’re enjoying the tunes, you might want to brush up on how gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons have influenced music beyond this list.

New Bright Eyes Video - “Hot Knives”

Bright Eyes Conor Oberst

The Wunderkind in White, Bright Eyes, has a new video out for “Hot Knives.” The video is a great representation of his recent tour featuring some very cool projected visuals. Projecting dye in water is pretty neat-o, but it’s still second to Björk’s ReacTable. Also, check out Conor and company performing “Hot Knives” earlier this month on Letterman.
