Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ Diamond Ballroom (OKC, OK) 6/17/07

BRMC Stage
This is the first, and hopefully not last, guest column by Dan. Photos and Video by Heath.

Our timing couldn’t have been any better. The three of us high-tailed it to the Diamond Ballroom, worried that the fellas in Black Rebel Motorcycle Club might be half-way through their set list by the time our procrastinating asses got there. We made it in the venue, and bought some tasty beverages. When my vodka and tonic hit my taste buds, the lights went down, the smoke machine came up, and the opening chords of “Took Out a Loan” rattled my gut. New Scissors For Lefty - Underhanded Romance

scissorsforlefty.jpg

Having already been released in the UK last October and receiving heaps of attention, San Fransisco rockers Scissors For Lefty finally released their debut album Underhanded Romance here in the states last week. The Brits’ adoration of the band is understandable - Scissors For Lefty deliver catchy dance rock that is simliar to Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs. Eenie Meenie Records’ decision to release Underhanded Romance last weeks is also understandable, as the album is filled with upbeat and addictive tracks that make it perfect for summertime spinning.

MP3: Scissors For Lefty - “Ghetto Ways”
MP3: Scissors For Lefty - “Lay Down Your Weapons”

Björk and Others Create Music Using Multi-Touch Tabletop

reactable1.jpg
With Apple unleashing the iPhone and Microsoft releasing Surface , touchable electronics are getting a lot of attention this year. So, it’s somewhat surprising that not more has been said after Björk introduced the ReacTable, a key element of her current “Volta” tour, for the first time to a mainstream audience at this year’s Coachella Festival. Developed in Spain, the device is intended to be operated by several musicians who share control of the instrument by moving and caressing objects on a luminous table. For a better understanding of just how cool and futuristic the ReacTable is, check out this video demonstration:
