New Madonna (feat. Pharrell) - “The Beat Goes On”

New Madonna The Beat Goes On

Following the leak of the Madonna-Justin Timberlake collaboration “Candy Shop” earlier this month, another new track from Madonna’s forthcoming album has sprung onto the internet - “The Beat Goes On”. Teaming up with Pharrell, the sparse “Beat” is supposed to signal another Madge reinvention and opens with her declaring that she’s tired of “doing the same old thing”. While the track is certainly more promising than her first team up with Pharrell (the recent Live Earth charity track “Hey You”), on first listen the song’s guitar strums and claps only recall a reheated version of Timberlake’s “Like I Love You”. Scheduled for a November release, I think everyone is anxiously hoping that Madonna’s forthcoming album isn’t more of “the same old thing”.

Spike Spends Saturdays With

Director Spike Jonze has a new online show on VBS.tv called Spike Spends Saturdays With…. The series features Jonze hanging out one-on-one with artists he admires. The first installment features Jonze following musician M.I.A. around London and is being unveiled in six parts. I’ve posted the first part below and features M.I.A. receiving fake eyelashes from Jonze and revealing the cause behind her carrot orange hair was a Polish stylist on horse tranquilizers. Awesome! Each day there is a new chapter and Kanye West is scheduled for next week so you may want to stay tuned.
