Bad news for ACL goers and North American fans of Amy Winehouse, as it seems she is canceling her North American tour dates. I kind of hope she sends a couple of those port-a-potties to the fest in her absence…
Easily one of my most anticipated films of the year, the trailer for I’m Not There has hit the web! I’m Not There is a biopic/reflection on the life of Bob Dylan, in which the iconic singer-songwriter will be depicted through six distinct stages of his life by six different actors including Marcus Carl Franklin, Ben Whishaw, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and Cate Blanchett. This trailer, along with the amazing 2-disc soundtrack, definitely heightens my anticipation for the flick’s November 21 release! Check out the trailer below and the full soundtrack tracklist after the jump!

Trust Hypeful when I say there’s a slew of interesting album releases today! (So many good releases this post is going up a bit later than usual…) Included in this week’s new releases is the awesome DVD/CD release by the Flaming Lips, which Hypeful previously reviewed, and the return of two of Hypeful’s favorite music ladies (Jenny Lewis & M.I.A.)! Also, I forgot to mention last week the release of The Wildbirds’ Golden Daze and I would be remiss not to suggest you check out this promising debut from a Hypeful Band to Watch.
Today is the 25th birthday of the compact disc! It’s been a quarter-century since Philips rolled the first CD off its production lines on August 17th, 1982, which history will forever remember - perhaps unfortunately - as a copy of ABBA’s The Visitors. Some 200 billion discs have been sold worldwide since its birth and the original shiny little platter is looking at its golden years as increasingly more convenient formats look to replace it.
To celebrate the event, I thought I would share the first track from that historic ABBA CD and ask Hypeful readers about the first CD you ever purchased. Feel free to leave your confessions in the comments!
