Born Ruffians have put two new songs up on their MySpace page - “Hummingbird” and “Kurt Vonnegut.” Both are from a single due out in October that is a prelude to their debut album “Red, Yellow and Blue,” which is due out next year. They’ve also posted their cover of Grizzly Bear’s “Knife,” which I thoroughly dig. If you haven’t heard it yet, I’ll post it below.

Eh, it’s kind of a slow day on the internets. So, I thought I would share another ace track from the upcoming The Darjeeling Limited Soundtrack. This Peter Sarstedt track (along with those Kinks tracks I posted a few weeks ago) ratchets up my excitement for the film even more. Enjoy!

Hypeful’s six month anniversary is right around the corner and I am very honored that it has received its first blogging nomination! Wahoo! Okiedoke is hosting the 2007 Okie Blog Awards and Hypeful has been nominated for Best Culture Blog. This nomination is such a unique honor because the awards were established by and are decided by Oklahoma bloggers exclusively. If you are currently an Oklahoma blogger, I would be very appreciative of your vote. The voting period ends on September 26 and you can check out the full list of nominees here. Thanks!

The 1900s new record, Cold & Kind, isn’t out until October 2, but as with every release some tunes just don’t make the final cut. Luckily, The 1900s are kind enough to share such an outtake in the form of “Everybody’s Got A Collection,” which was intended for their new album but was obviously cut for time and not quality. Grab this tasty outtake below!

The A.V. Club has put together 13 Signs That MTV Hates You - an article that offers 13 examples of how MTV has steadily declined from a music channel to a network with absolute contempt for its viewers. I wonder what the Laguna Beach kids think about that!

Remember that great image from Virgin that challenged you to spot the 75 band names? TBS has released a similar picture that challenges Seinfeld fans to identify 38 images that represent catchphrases, sayings, nicknames, and other memories from the popular television series. If you enjoy these kind of things, Lovefilm also offers a desktop wallpaper that contains 100 hidden film titles.
