That loud cracking sound you heard earlier was the collective breaking of 60, 000 hearts (perhaps none as loud as Hypeful’s). Stereogum is reporting that The White Stripes have canceled their Austin City Limits appearances scheduled for this weekend, citing a nervous breakdown on the part of drummer Meg White.

This tragic cancellation follows the ACL Fest withdrawals of Amy Winehouse and Rodrigo Y Gabriela (both citing exhaustion). While I spend the rest of the afternoon recovering from the lost opportunity to catch The Stripes twice (both at the Fest and the aftershow at Stubb’s), Hypeful extends the best to Meg in her recovery.

Proving once again that just about everybody loves Arcade Fire, Norah Jones gave “Ocean of Noise” the cover treatment a couple of weeks ago at the Sopot International Song Competition in Poland. Although the track volume is a bit on the soft side, it’s still not a terrible recording of the live performance.

Although everything you need to know is right there in the title - last December’s fake music video, D-ck in a Box, performed by Justin Timberlake and SNL cast member Andy Samberg won an Emmy over the weekend. One can only suspect this will inspire another wave of YouTube parodies. I’ll post the video below, just in case you spent the past year inside of a box.
