Grizzly Bear Weigh In On Tina Fey & Writers’ Strike

Grizzly Bear Tina Fey Writers’ Strike

An obviously upset Grizzly Bear posted a MySpace bulletin yesterday to announce their gig on Late Night With Conan O’Brien was canceled “thanks to the writer’s [sic] strike” and “in the meantime, [they] sure do hope Tina Fey gets the extra residuals on her online sales of 30rock!”

Approximately an hour later, the band posted a follow-up bulletin to clarify their position on Fey and the writers’ strike stating:

my little joke about tina fey needing her residuals didn’t mean we don’t support it, just funny to see her face on the front of the new york times website this morning—-

clearly most writers aren’t as fortunate as she is, and people like her and Jon Stewart and doing a great service by paying their writers while they strike to get fair payment from their shows online/dvds sales , instead of the massive hollywood corporations getting all the profits…

Maybe indie bands should start a union and strike until we get residuals for illegal downloads?

Or perhaps when the strike is over, the Grizzly boys can drop by 30 Rock to help Tracy Jordan remix “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah”…
