Not all Jens are oh-so-silent. Please meet Fred Armisen’s latest character creation to combine comedy and music - hyper-skilled drummer Jens Hannemann. Featured in the new DVD Fred Armisen Presents Complicated Drumming Technique: Jens Hannemann, Armisen’s satirical character will be familiar to anyone who has ever seen one of those instructional DVDs hosted by some skilled musician whose guidance is inevitably more confounding than inspiring. Hannemann uses an extensive 18-piece drum kit (not counting cymbals) to demonstrate even more ridiculously complex compositions (with beat-by-beat instructions in bizarre time signatures like 29/2).
