Top 25 Rocker-Actors Who Don’t Suck

Rolling Stone has compiled their list of the top 25 musicians who have made the most successful trips to the silver screen. With all due respect to the House Party Trilogy, it’s absolutely shocking to see Kid N’ Play made their list but Mark Wahlberg did not make the cut. Also, it’s surprising they gave no love for Jack White (he was good in Cold Mountain, but he looks even better as karate choppin’ Elvis in Walk Hard!) Hypeful’s list would probably have also included Glen Hansard and Justin Rice - what do you think about their list?

Mos Def was just that in “16 Blocks”, no gripe there. Dwight Yoakam deserves the nod for “Sling Blade”, but I’m with you, what are they thinking snubbing Marky Mark?
I’m with you guys about the omission of Marky Mark. That’s just a damn shame, but it’s possible they’re holding “Planet of the Apes” against him. Which, given the inclusion of Kid ‘n’ Play here, isn’t really fair.
Also, it’s good that somebody gave Madonna some props. Granted, as an actress she’s mostly bad, but she’s had her moments.
A few others I’d add:
Bette Midler. I’d much rather see her on the screen than hear her sing, but anyway. She’s mostly fantastic.
Eminem. I actually can’t stand his music, but 8 Mile was pretty great.
Dolly Parton. Who’s kinda hit or miss with me as an actress, but mostly funny. I like anyone who doesn’t take herself too seriously. Which is impossible to do when you’re Dolly Parton.
Tina Turner, who only ever made two movies, but was absolutely scene-stealing in both (as the Acid Queen in The Who’s Tommy [a role for which she was chosen over David Bowie] and Aunty Entity in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome).
Ann-Margaret. God, is this the gayest list ever?
What they should make now is a list of actors who shouldn’t have crossed over into music, like Russell Crowe, Eddie Murphy, and Patrick Swayze. To name a few.
