Bishop Allen’s “Click Click Click Click” may arguably be the best camera-themed song since Paul Simon’s “Kodachrome,” which helps explain why it too has recently ended up being used in a Sony camera commercial (way to miss the boat, Kodak). The song was also licensed to an October 15th episode of some TV series called Aliens In America. Now, “Click” is finally getting the music video treatment and Stereogum has the premiere. If you haven’t heard the song, you soon will - so why not grab it below?
It’s a myth that the color red angers bulls (they’re actually colorblind), which is a good thing for The White Stripes and their favorite color scheme. Following their español-flavored video for “Icky Thump”, the Stripes this time bring their “Conquest” cover to a bullfighting ring where Jack gets his matador on.

Rolling Stone has compiled their list of the top 25 musicians who have made the most successful trips to the silver screen. With all due respect to the House Party Trilogy, it’s absolutely shocking to see Kid N’ Play made their list but Mark Wahlberg did not make the cut. Also, it’s surprising they gave no love for Jack White (he was good in Cold Mountain, but he looks even better as karate choppin’ Elvis in Walk Hard!) Hypeful’s list would probably have also included Glen Hansard and Justin Rice - what do you think about their list?

Are musicians suddenly struck with an outbreak of musical fever because of Glen Hansard’s performance in Once or is writing a musical really just the next logical step after your lead singer has published a book of food essays? Franz Ferdinand recently had such a good time creating music for the film Hallam Foe, they’ve expressed interest in writing an entire musical once their new album is complete. Franz frontman Alex Kapranos elaborated on the possible project telling the Daily Record:
“After we’ve finished this album, we’re definitely going to look more at doing some other things. Writing for Hallam Foe was a lot of fun. We hear Belle & Sebastian were working on a musical film and possibly I’d like to write a musical too. Who knows? Maybe I’ll write one for the stage rather than for film. I wouldn’t play the romantic lead. I’d need to get somebody else to do that.”
As mentioned by Kapranos, God Help The Girl is the title of the Belle & Sebastian musical film Stuart Murdoch has been developing over the last year. Not to be left out, the same article features ex-Libertine and current Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barât’s claiming he and Pete Doherty might collaborate on a musical comedy for the stage. Maybe Doherty is looking for someone to help him finish up the musical he was allegedly writing with Kate Moss.
Sadly, still no word Stateside when we’ll see Yoshimi battle pink robots on Broadway. In the meantime, practice your jazz hands and check out the two tracks below. “Perfection as a Hipster” is a demo composed by Stuart Murdoch from his forthcoming God Help The Girl. “Hallam Foe Dandelion Blow” is the aforementioned Franz soundtrack contribution that inspired the band to discuss doing a musical.

Not all Jens are oh-so-silent. Please meet Fred Armisen’s latest character creation to combine comedy and music - hyper-skilled drummer Jens Hannemann. Featured in the new DVD Fred Armisen Presents Complicated Drumming Technique: Jens Hannemann, Armisen’s satirical character will be familiar to anyone who has ever seen one of those instructional DVDs hosted by some skilled musician whose guidance is inevitably more confounding than inspiring. Hannemann uses an extensive 18-piece drum kit (not counting cymbals) to demonstrate even more ridiculously complex compositions (with beat-by-beat instructions in bizarre time signatures like 29/2). Head over to The A.V. Club to hear Armisen interview Hannemann and check out the funny preview for the DVD below. You can also catch Armisen performing as Jens at the Knitting Factory on November 29.

Too bad I can’t blame good ol’ tryptophan anymore for not getting this post up sooner - (get back to work on those hoverboards, scientists!!!) Anyhoo, if you haven’t already guessed, Hypeful has taken the Thanksgiving holiday off today to enjoy the rarest of condiments - cranberry sauce. Hypeful’s weekly update schedule will resume tomorrow. In the meantime, please enjoy Eli Roth’s Grindhouse trailer for his faux-flick Thanksgiving (WARNING: It’s NSFW or the easily offended, so I’ll also post some “Cold Turkey” to balance things out.)

Don’t feel like dancin’? Maybe you would prefer playing a game of “Whack-A-Sister,” recently released online to help promote the Scissor Sisters forthcoming Hurrah - A Year of Ta Dah DVD. Don’t be misled by the title of the familiar game - you do not get to go Tony Soprano on Jake Shears.

If you’ve ever wanted to see Brandon Flowers bound in tinsel and begging for his life (and I know some of you) - your holiday wishes have come true! Alternatively, if you’re into cheesy Christmas sweaters you should definitely check out The Killers’ new video for their Christmas single - “Don’t Shoot Me Santa.” The song hits radio airwaves on Monday (November 26th) and released for digital download the next day. On December 1st, the single and video will debut on JOINRED.COM. The following Tuesday, December 4th, the “Don’t Shoot Me Santa” single package (including audio track and video) arrives in stores. As part of (RED), 100% of the proceeds from the single will go to benefit the Global Fund for investment in African AIDS programs. The video has leaked on to YouTube early, however, and worth a viewing (but will probably be removed from the site fairly quickly).

In the spirit of the holidays, James Murphy is making like Santa Claus by posting a new clip from LCD Soundsystem’s recent performance in Manchester every week until Christmas (and sharing two on the last week). First up this week is “All My Friends” with the following videos to be released through their YouTube account according to this schedule:
“Daft Punk Is Playing at My House” - November 26
“North American Scum” - December 3
“Tribulations” - December 10
“Us v Them” - December 17
“Movement” - December 17

In making an argument for the superiority of pants, a very wise man (actually Hypeful’s friend Seth at a local bar) once pointed out that “Mick Jagger would never wear shorts.” While Jagger’s inimitable style has had a few stumbles, NME offers further evidence that English rockers and shorts are a highly unstable combo. In their preparation for England to take on Croatia at Wembley, the mag has assembled some amusing photos of English rock stars (who aren’t Jagger) in shorts. I’ve posted three of my faves above (from left to right) - Jarvis Cocker, Damon Albarn, and Pete Doherty. Perhaps this is why soccer will never catch on in America…
