Rob’s Party Mix from Cloverfield

Cloverfield Rob’s Going Away Party Mix Soundtrack

After months of viral marketing and a record-setting weekend box office, Cloverfield audiences finally got to see what was capable of decapitating the Statue of Liberty and ruining a hipster loft party all in one evening. Although the camera footage retrieved from the area formerly known as “Central Park” may not have had a proper soundtrack (for obvious reasons), perhaps you caught the rapid-fire snippets of indie-tastic tunes playing in the background of Rob’s farewell party. In case you were too distracted by the scene’s gaggle of ridiculously good-looking hipsters/monster-snacks, Hypeful has assembled “Rob’s Party Mix” to help score your next loft party - just add models, a shaky camcorder, Slusho, and a good city evacuation plan!

(Also, did you happen to catch the remix of Rob’s audio at the end of Cloverfield’s credits?)

New Grand Archives - “A Setting Sun” & “Miniature Birds”

Grand Archives

After a handful of ace demos were released earlier in 2007, Hypeful has anxiously awaited Grand Archives’ forthcoming debut and Mat Brooke’s first release since leaving Band of Horses. With their self-titled debut set to drop next month, Grand Archives have added two new album tracks (”A Setting Sun” & “Miniature Birds”) to their MySpace page for your streaming pleasure. If these welcoming and sunny songs are any indication, The Grand Archives may help you to forget that spring is still weeks away.

New(ish) Michael Jackson - “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” featuring Akon & Will.I.Am

Michael Jackson Thriller

The first single from Michael Jackson’s forthcoming Thriller 25 (out 2.12.08), a collection of tunes celebrating the 25th anniversary of the King of Pop’s classic LP, is a newly recorded rendition of “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ ” that features Akon, Will.I.Am and, of course, Jackson himself. The track is a new take on the original and was produced by Akon and Jackson (who also mixed and mastered the new cut). Although it doesn’t come close to topping the original version found on the 1982 record, it’s still kind of exciting to hear MJ making new(ish) music instead of headlines.
