Zooey Deschanel Previews Her Collaboration With M. Ward

She and Him Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward Collaboration

Zooey Deschanel dropped by KCRW’s Open Road program on Sunday night and discussed her upcoming collaboration with M. Ward. After working together on the soundtrack for the film The Go-Getter, the duo decided to musically collaborate further and have been recording under the name She and Him. With their album Volume One set to drop in March, the pair gave Open Road listeners a preview of what to expect from She and Him by playing some of their tunes. You can listen to Sunday’s Open Road show if you missed it and I’ll post some of their tracks below for your listening enjoyment.

MP3s:
She and Him (ft. Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward) - “Change Is Hard”
She and Him (ft. Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward) - “Magic Trick”
She and Him (ft. Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward) - “Sentimental Heart”
She and Him (ft. Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward) - “You Really Got A Hold On Me”

Create a Fake Band & Album With Meme

Fake band album Castries Of Luck Or Merit

Here’s a great way to put together a fake band and album in less time than it used to take Lou Pearlman! Here are the 3 easy steps:

1. The first article title on this page is the name of your band.

2. The last four words of the very last quote on this page is the title of your album.

3. The third picture (no matter what it is!) on this page will be your album cover.

Now all you have to do is sit back and wait for fake rehab! My resulting fake band is Castries and the fake debut album is entitled Of Luck Or Merit (taken from The Talmud’s quote, “Never expose yourself unnecessarily to danger; a miracle may not save you…and if it does, it will be deducted from your share of luck or merit.”). Additionally, I couldn’t be happier with the cover art. Check it out and post your fake band/album info in the comments! (Thanks to Okay City for the heads up and dustbury for creating the meme!)

Conan O’Brien Covers “Blue Moon of Kentucky”

Conan O’Brien Covers Bill Monroe’s Blue Moon of Kentuck on Late Night with Conan O’Brien

There may be an ongoing Writer’s Strike, but there’s clearly not a Rockin’ Strike affecting Conan O’Brien. On last Friday’s Late Night, The Cone Zone proved that he’s not “just gonna waste a lot of time with low-concept nonsense” while waiting for his writers to return. Backed by The Max Weinberg 7 and outfitted in country garb, Consie performed a must-see and raucous cover of Bill Monroe’s “Blue Moon of Kentucky.” The performance more than tops his previously mentioned covers and demonstrates why (even without writers) Conan is one of TV’s finest.

Conan Crashes Rock Band Session With “Creep” and “Sabotage” Covers

Conan O’Brien playing Rock Band Radiohead Creep Beastie Boys Sabotage Edith Bunker

On a recent episode of Late Night, Conan O’Brien put together a video depicting how he’d spent the days waiting to return to the air since the onset of the Writer’s Guild strike. It turns out The Cone Zone has been doing more than just nurturing his strike beard - Consie has also been sharpening his axe skills and busting in on his staffers’ Rock Band sessions to play along with Radiohead’s “Creep,” and covering Beastie Boys’ “Sabatoge” in the voice of Edith Bunker.

New Matt Costa Video - “Mr. Pitiful”

Matt Costa Mr. Pitiful music video

Matt Costa transformed himself into a one-man band and took to the streets of San Francisco for “Mr. Pitiful,” the debut single from Costa’s forthcoming album Unfamiliar Faces. It may look easy but the folk crooner had to do a bit of training before spending hours in the heavy, odd contraption. Maybe it’s just the bow tie, but Costa makes wearing and playing the odd contraption look like a breeze.
