30 Rock Takes “Midnight Train to Georgia”

Hearing the writer’s strike may end soon, I finally watched the last episode of 30 Rock from early January that I was hoarding for emergency entertainment purposes. Tina Fey drunk on wine and singing Alanis Morissette? Awesome. The entire cast getting their inner-Pip on and singing Gladys Knight? Also, awesome. It may be a tad belated, but Hypeful can’t let a great 30 Rock tune slip by without a mention.

I agree, that was totally fantastic moment, not unlike Dennis Potter’s Singing Detective (the series, not the movie). But not only was it a highly congruent and well-prepared scene, the execution of the song was also great. The bass and drums were real Motown, and the singing, although some voices quavering, was inspired.
