Nine Inch Nails Releases Internet Album - For Free

Trent Reznor Nine Inch Nails

Somewhere over the rainbow after In Rainbows…Trent Reznor, who split with his record label last year, continued his foray into self-distribution by releasing Ghosts I-IV on Nine Inch Nail’s website yesterday. Reznor is giving away the first nine songs of the 36-track(!) instrumental album for free and selling the entire album in digital format for $5. After Radiohead released In Rainbows via the internet, Reznor applauded their strategy and then helped “undiscovered” musician Saul Williams to release an online-only album (The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust) in a similar way.

The Last Shadow Puppets Release Cryptic, Russian-Themed Trailer

The Last Shadow Puppets Alex Turner and Miles Kane

Alex Turner and Miles Kane have posted up more teaser footage from their upcoming The Last Shadow Puppets project on their website. The trailer is as cryptic and grainy as a Dharma orientation film - it features Super 8 footage of The Arctic Monkeys and The Rascals frontmen walking past Russian troops and includes shots of the Moscow underground. There’s speculation that the footage is from the video shoot for TLSP’s debut single “The Age Of The Understatement,” which will be released April 14th (one week before their album of the same name will be released on April 21).

New Gnarls Barkley Video - “Run”

Gnarls Barkley Run Music Video

Run, children! Justin Timberlake is sporting a mean Jheri curl in Gnarls Barkley’s new Dance Party USA-tastic video for “Run.” (Fairplay to Timberlake, though - he’s so good as a TV host with a blackcent, you’ll almost swear it was Carson Daly!) Like Snoop’s Solid Gold-styled video for “Sensual Seduction,” Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo cue up the 80’s nostalgia in a must-see clip that will almost have you missing VHS.
