The Streets Making A Grand Don’t Come for Free Film?

The Streets A Grand Don’t Come for Free

The Streets (aka Mike Skinner) released a video today regarding a film adaptation of his 2004 concept album, A Grand Don’t Come for Free. Unfortunately, the tone of the video and today’s date suggest this project could simply be a joke. Pity if it is a gag - the videos from A Grand (”Blinded By The Lights,” in particular) suggests there’s some cool visual narrative you could do with the album’s fairly simple plot. Plus, the Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots stage adaptation still seems far from opening night.

  1. I really hope this is true…I love this album

  2. LOL - Same here. Mike Skinner posted a blog update on his MySpace page today, but he failed to mention whether this was an April Fools’ joke or not. In addition to being an awesome album, I really do think a film could be equally great.

  3. I used work for the Beats, I can tell you that The Grand Don’t Come For Free Movie is a very real possibility.

  4. That album is so perfect in its visual narration. I’d love to see it translated into a movie.
