Hypeful’s readers are clearly no April fools! The Devil may have gone down to Georgia, but Xenu Sufjan ain’t headed to Arkansas. As most of you caught, yesterday’s post about Sufjan releasing Arkansas and joining Scientology was an April 1st prank. However, “The Lord God Bird” is an actual Sufjan track he previously recorded for NPR. The other song (”Retrieve The Lady Baxter!”) is simply a random instrumental (although feel free to enjoy it on your next Virgle trip to colonize Mars). Happy April Fools’ Day!

1[...] Arkansas is expected to be available through iTunes one week from today, with vinyl and CD versions to follow shortly. However, two tracks (”The Lord God Bird” and “Retrieve The Lady Baxter! Ready Her For Battle!”) have leaked ahead of its release and sound musically/thematically familiar. The first track is a hymn to the ivory-billed woodpecker recently rediscovered in a small farming town and the latter is an instrumental ode to a cannon that rests at the oldest surviving state capitol west of the Mississippi River.
