A common misconception in the United States is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day (it’s actually a holiday commemorating an initial victory of Mexican forces over French forces in the Battle of Puebla). However, the Dandy Warhols are using this Cinco de Mayo as a day to declare their own independence of sorts. Today the Dandies announced Earth to the Dandy Warhols - the band’s debut self-released album under the band’s newly minted Beat The World Records. But you don’t have to wait until its summer release to hear new tracks! To help celebrate their independence, the band has passed along the album’s opening track, the party-starting “The World The People Together (Come On).” Enjoy it with a couple of cervezas!

Here’s something to help pull you out of your Monday bunker - Calico Horse has done a lovely cover of Radiohead’s “Idioteque.” (Backed by only an acoustic guitar and a tambourine, lead singer Emily Neveu will make you wonder if an approaching ice age has ever sounded quite so delicate.) Music festival season is upon us and MuchMusic has put together a spot-on list of the 10 worst concert behaviors of so-called “fans.” I think all concert goers should have to sign off on some kind of waiver agreeing not to engage any of these listed activities (I’m thinking of you in particular, extremely-wasted 6′8″ dude standing/dancing in front of me while your girlfriend intermittently uses her cell phone for chatting and snapping terrible photos…) What are your least favorite modern concert behaviors?
