i love the Viva la Vida Song by Coldplay. I think it sounds like the Creaky Boards song. Why couldn’t they give Creaky Boards the credit and pay for using the song?

Dude, those songs are totally different. Someone claims ‘copyright infringement’ on pretty much every song that ever hits #1…yours just doesn’t sound enough like Coldplay’s to hold up to scrutiny. Your band is probably great, and I hope you’re getting some good publicity from this.

I’m a music publisher, and certanly can see closeness between the two songs. But a bigger part of the songs are different. The parts that are close do not have the melody exactly the same on a one line. Parts of the lines are different. The rhythm and key are the same, tempo very similar. But none of these are copyright issues.
If this song is a plagiarism issue, then so many songs today sounds like something else I’ve heard before. Then someone could have accused Bob Dylan soong “Make You Feel My Love” on his DYLAN album a copied from Julian Lennon’s “Saltwater”. Never heard any comment on that and oh so many other songs.
