Coldplay To Rush-Release Viva La Vida Follow-up?

Coldplay Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends

Rumors are circulating that Coldplay’s Viva La Vida sessions with producer Brian Eno were so successful that the band is now looking to rush-release a follow-up album of already recorded material as early as 2009. As one of my favorite albums of 2008 (so far), I would personally love to hear some b-sides. Plus, you know you want to hear the Kylie-Martin duet that is too sexy for human ears

Vampire Weekend Covers Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere”

Ezra Koenig Vampire Weekend Lindsey Buckingham Fleetwood Mac

While Vampire Weekend were down under for Australia’s Splendour In The Grass festival a couple of weeks ago, they treated Triple J radio listeners to a very ace cover of Fleetwood Mac! It’s so good, in fact - it might help to repair America’s fruit vendor relations with Australia. Have a listen, won’t you?
(Thanks to PMA for the heads up!)

R.I.P. LeRoi Moore 1961-2008

LeRoi Moore saxophonist Dave Matthews Band sax

LeRoi Moore, a founding member and versatile saxophonist of the Dave Matthews Band, has sadly passed away at the age of 46. I know it certainly won’t win me any points with the hipster crowd, but this has to be the worst news of the day. I’ve been a fan of DMB since receiving a bootleg cassette(!) of the group back in middle school and although their recent albums haven’t been career highlights, I still regard the band as one of my favorites.

It’s times like this I wish Boots Randolph would’ve have gotten around to writing “Yakety Taps.” Since he didn’t, I can’t think of a better way to help remember LeRoi than by sharing some of his best jams.

Feel free to leave your favorite LeRoi jams or concert memories in the comments.

Bloc Party Announce Third Album Intimacy

Bloc Party Kele Okereke Gordon Moakes Russell Lissack Matt Tong Intamacy

Those sneaky Brit bands! Like Radiohead before them, Bloc Party’s have announced that their third album, Intimacy, will be available digitally via the band’s website in a mere 3 days on August 21st! The album be released via CD on October 27th and feature additional songs. The album was produced by Paul Epworth (Silent Alarm) and Jacknife Lee (A Weekend in the City), which means fans can expect some songs to find Bloc Party at their most wildly experimental, while other tracks are allegedly set to sound like more “classic” Bloc Party.

New Wilco - “One Wing” & “Sunny Feeling”

Wilco Jeff Tweedy

In between cheering on the Cubs, Wilco have been playing a couple of new songs at recent shows. Personally, I can’t think of a better way to help kick off the week than by sharing two of these super-fresh Wilco tracks - “One Wing” & “Sunny Feeling.” I think you’ll find that “Sunny Feeling” in particular is a great way to help you beat a case of the Mondays.
