Viva-Gate 2: Joe Satriani Sues Coldplay

Here we go again - Coldplay is again being accused of stealing their hit single “Viva La Vida” just days after the group was shortlisted for seven Grammys, including song of the year. This time the accuser is guitarist Joe Satriani who is claiming that Coldplay ganked the riff from his 2004 instrumental “If I Could Fly.” I can hear the similiarity, but what do you guys think? Does Satriani have a case or is this just another Creaky Boards incident with a band crying wolf riff?

  1. I would sue coldplay because my neighbour likes to play viva la vida on an infinite loop & repeat from 10am to 2am, but besides that, it’s actually laughable trying to compare both tracks.
