It’s official! Just a few hours ago Gov. Brad Henry signed an executive order naming the Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize??” as Oklahoma’s official rock song and declaring today (April 28th) Flaming Lips Day!

After the jump, check out the photos I grabbed at the event including exclusive pics of the signed executive order!

New Flaming Lips Record Entitled Embryonic?

Just received a tip from a fairly reliable source that the upcoming Flaming Lips album will be entitled Embryonic. There’s no release date set, but the same source says the band is hoping to have it out sometime in the last half of 2009. In the meantime, here’s a preview of what fans may expect on the new LP.

New Sufjan Stevens - “Sofia’s Song”

Sufjan Stevens posted an essay on Asthmatic Kitty’s blog earlier today about his unique name and his songwriting process in college, which included penning a song to his “imaginary confident” Sofia Coppola. It may not exactly be a new track, but you’ll probably be more than happy to take a walk down memory lane with Soof courtesy of this old demo.
