Bob Dylan

In what was certainly no easy task, New York Magazine has compiled the Ten Most Incomprehensible Interviews of All Time from rock and roll’s most iconic absurdist - Mr. Bob Dylan! Including synopses and videos of each interview, it’s an awesome look back at Dylan confounding reporters since 1961.

Top Price For In Rainbows

$205.81

Everybody’s talking about Radiohead’s new album, In Rainbows, and the band’s brilliant marketing plan that allows listeners to choose the price they pay for a digital copy of their album. However, a generous Radiohead fan who wanted to pay $500 for the album discovered that the maximum price the band will accept is $205.81 (or £99.99). So, if you’re wanting to pay the band more than $205.81, looks like you should buy extra digital copies for your friends!

Arcade Fire cryptic message

Arcade Fire has posted a cryptic message on their website that tells visitors to “be oNline B October 6th.” Lots of rumors are flying around the internets, but NME is reporting that the band will announce a collaboration with LCD Soundsystem - which would probably cause my head to explode.

Jeff Tweedy Wilco WristStrong Wrist Awareness Stephen Colbert

There is one very important rule to owning a WristStrong bracelet - to give it to someone more famous than yourself. Following this rule of Stephen Colbert’s “Wrist Awareness” campaign, a fan who recently went to a Wilco concert armed with her bracelet and a sign got Jeff Tweedy in on the action. Tweedy revealed himself as a Colbert fan and raised his general awesomeness. Check out the fan’s story over at the No Fact Zone.

Starbucks window

Starbucks has teamed up with iTunes to give away 1.5 million free songs every day starting October 2. Customers will get a free “song of the day” card throughout the promotion which will include tracks by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Band Of Horses amongst others. With the number of free songs set to reach 50 million by November 7, Starbucks is hoping to use the effort to draw attention to its nifty new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. If there’s one thing that may be better than the coffee chain’s Pumpkin Spice Latte, it’s free music…

2007 Okie Blog Awards

2007 Okie Blog Awards Nomination

Hypeful’s six month anniversary is right around the corner and I am very honored that it has received its first blogging nomination! Wahoo! Okiedoke is hosting the 2007 Okie Blog Awards and Hypeful has been nominated for Best Culture Blog. This nomination is such a unique honor because the awards were established by and are decided by Oklahoma bloggers exclusively. If you are currently an Oklahoma blogger, I would be very appreciative of your vote. The voting period ends on September 26 and you can check out the full list of nominees here. Thanks!

Carter Albrecht Sorta

I learned some very sad news yesterday - Carter Albrecht, Dallas musician and member of the great band Sorta, was tragically shot and killed on Monday. Hypeful extends deepest sympathies to Carter’s friends, family, loved ones, and all of those touched by the sad and shocking loss of him.

Named Musician of the Year and Best Songwriter by the Dallas Observer, it was recently noted that Carter was also a true fan of music and life in general - especially of the many instances when the two could be combined. It is in this spirit that I would like to share some of Carter’s music and strongly encourage you to check out Sorta if you haven’t already.

One Week of Hypeful

Today is the one week anniversary of Hypeful and I would be remiss if I didn’t send out some very big THANKS! First of all, I owe thanks to Heath and Jay for helping me piece this site together before its launch. Without their tech wizardry, I would probably be stuck “blogging” with crayons. (If you get a chance, please check out Jay’s awesome design blog - Bittbox!)

Second, thanks to all of my friends/readers for all of the amazing support! I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog thus far and I am still extremely hypeful about the future. Woohoo!!!

(Sorry about all of the late posting today. I was hoping to have everything up sooner, but internet troubles have kept me offline most of the day.)
