Fanfarlo Cover Smashing Pumpkins’ “We Only Come Out At Night”

Having already released one of Hypeful’s favorite albums from the first half of ‘09, London-based Fanfarlo have managed to keep themselves busy recording a series of covers in one of the band member’s living rooms. For the first of their self-dubbed “laptop sessions,” Fanfarlo has covered Bonnie Prince Billy’s “A Minor Place.” and the Smashing Pumpkins’ “We Only Come Out At Night.” (The Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie track is an especially apropos tune if you’re suffering from a rash of True Blood fever this summer…)

New Matt & Kim Video - “Lessons Learned”

Brooklyn’s Matt & Kim strip down in New York City’s Time Square in the new video for “Lessons Learned.” Both the nudity and the reactions of the tourists are totally authentic and, natch, very entertaining.

Ruby Isle Covers The Decemberists’ “Rake’s Song”

While The Decemberists’ “The Rake’s Song” may be the greatest song ever written about filicide, it’s certainly not a topic that induces most people to move their feet. Yet, leave it to Ruby Isle, the self-described Party Band of the Apocalypse, to spin the cautionary tale of child murders into both a highly danceable electro-pop tune and a music video featuring a neon pink gorilla running through a blizzard.

New Star Trek Trailer Drops

Go ahead - beat me up and take my lunch money, but the new Star Trek trailer looks pretty cool and I’ve got a lot of faith in J.J. Abrams. Plus, Simon Pegg makes everything a little more awesome!

New Margot & The Nuclear So & So’s - As Tall as Cliffs Video

Ever wonder what George W. Bush would do his last night as president? Margot and the Nuclear So & So’s have a theory involving ladies of the night, drugs, Budweiser, egging cars, public urination, and play guns all set to “As Tall As Cliffs” the single from their album Animal! I am not sure how accurate their prediction is, but if even a fraction of this happens in January I will be ecstatic.
