On Funny Or Die, Will Ferrell has picked a local commercial by Oklahoma City’s very-own Mr. Spriggs BBQ as his favorite video of the week! Writing on his site, Ferrell says:
Why I love it:
Usually even a good commercial makes me think “Yeah, right. Of course you’re saying that. You wanna sell your thing.” This video makes me want to move to Oklahoma and eat Mr. Spriggs for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Taco Bell fourth meal. Enjoy the joy.
If you ever want to visit OKC, Will, consider this an open invitation - you’ve got a place to stay and the ribs are on me! Move over, Chris Brown - this commercial may be the hottest slow jam of the summer and it’s just begging for a remix! (Thanks to Heath for the heads up!)

It’s rare that musical guests perform on The Daily Show (The White Stripes were the first in 2005 and Tom Waits played on Jon Stewart’s birthday in 2006). So, it’s worth noting that Coldplay joined an exclusive club of artists last night when they dropped by the DS studios to perform two tracks (”42″ and “Lost!”) off Viva La Vida. Check it out below!

Beck’s Modern Guilt (July 8th) is just around the corner. So, what better way to get fans psyched up for the new Danger Mouse-produced LP than an artsy-fartsy promo showcasing clips in a black-and-white Warhol-esque montage?!? Check out the two-minute Modern Guilt trailer below to sample excerpts from songs like “Walls,” “Youthless” and the album’s title track.

The Old 97’s new music video for “Dance With Me” is frackin’ awesome! If I lost you at “frack,” allow me to rephrase. It’s like a mash-up of Battlestar Galactica and the Crazy 88 bar-fight scene from Kill Bill, but set to the hot new single from Rhett Miller and company. In other words, pure geek awesomeness! (Thanks to the musical Cylons over at Salad Days Music for the heads up!)

An interesting dispute over digital ownership is a-brewin’ between two major acts with differing views on music and the Internet - Radiohead and Prince. After videos of Prince covering Radiohead’s “Creep” at this year’s Coachella made it on to YouTube, the Purple One and his label have attempted to have all of the clips taken down claiming a copyright violation (despite, the fact that the song isn’t Prince’s and the posted videos were shot by fans). Thom Yorke recently revealed that after his band had trouble watching the clip, he’s asked for Prince and YouTube to unblock the videos claiming copyright ownership. Read more about the copyright conflict at Billboard.

Leave Weezer alone!!! Weezer’s new video for “Pork and Beans” is so jam-packed with YouTube celebrities (but sadly no swearing Winnebago salesman), it is guaranteed to turn River Cuomo’s mustache into the next hot YouTube sensation. So, why not throw on your gem sweater and watch it now before it goes crazy viral causing your friends to forward it to you no less than a thousand times!

Gnarls Barkley have just dropped the video for their new single, “Going On.” Shot in Jamaica, the video follows a group of friends as they “celebrate their discovery of a portal into another dimension” as a series of yellow words guide them. Don’t worry - you won’t need a mirror to read the words this time…

John Mayer’s comedy résumé is increasingly ambitous and impressive - including some stand-up, a VH1 variety show, a 2 Girls 1 Cup parody, and (of course) a bright green Borat-style man thong. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising that his latest viral video (entitled Makin’ Music with John Mayer) was produced by Judd Apatow and features Kristen Bell and J.B. “Get In That Ass” Smoove, right? Right?!? The very funny clip features the guitarist giving fans a glimpse behind the scenes of his song-writing process and an exposé of why he needs a drug addict-for-hire, an angry focus group and a team of songwriters to help pen tracks about “when you’re fucking one supermodel and you make the other ones jealous.”

Easily one of one of the most talked-about shows from this weekend’s Coachella was Prince’s centerpiece performance. One of the biggest surprises from the concert came during Prince’s big finale - a lyrically-adjusted cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” Packed with a ripping guitar solo and extended falsetto crooning, this one song may have delivered the $4.8 million worth of Prince that festival goers and promoters were expecting. Check out the MP3 and video of the performance below.

After the writers’ strike canceled their appearance last November, Grizzly Bear finally made it on to Late Night With Conan O’Brien this week where they performed their brand-new song “While You Wait for the Others.” Check it out below, along with an MP3 of the band playing the song on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.
