I am putting on my sexiest pilgrim outfit and riding a giant turkey home to Texas for Thanksgiving. Hypeful will return next week on December 1st. In the meantime, I hope everyone has an awesome holiday!
[The] multi-platinum rap artist, Snoop Dogg, appeared on my television show and taught me some of his very own language called Snoop-guistics. He and his posse add ‘izzles’ onto the ends of words. It’s kind of a code, or a way of communicating so that others won’t know what they’re talking about. Example: fo shizzle is how they say, for sure. Snoop Dogg also shared –
Crack-a-lackin – means get something poppin
Chuuuch – means take God everywhere you go and everything will be all right
All hood – means good
Ball til ya fall – get as much money as you can before you die
Every Tuesday, Hypeful is teaming up with Salad Days Music to pick and preview the week’s best new album releases. Bend an ear to this week’s choicest selections after the jump!
Hypeful tends to keep things apolitical and upbeat, but this new tune from Frank Hoier is simply too prescient and catchy not to share! Armed with a dusty acoustic guitar and a middle-finger aimed at today’s newspaper headlines, “Jesus Don’t Give Tax Breaks To The Rich” is a well-timed example of good, old-timey Americana. Put this on your political protest playlist right behind Bright Eyes’ “When The President Talks To God” for an earbud stimulus package.
Don’t forget - Stephen Colbert is trading in his pinstripe suit this Sunday for a cardigan, turtleneck and furry boots to host his own hour-long holiday special A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! Following in the tradition of Andy Williams and Bing Crosby, Colbert will be visited by special musical guests Willie Nelson, Feist, Elvis Costello, Toby Keith, Jon Stewart, and John Legend to sing Christmas songs penned by Daily Show executive producer David Javerbaum and composed by Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger. Check out a preview of two songs below!
